Guy's Hospital Reports, Vol. 48 : Being Vol. XXXIII of the Third Series (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from Guy's Hospital Reports, Vol. 48: Being Vol. XXXIII of the Third Series Few facts in therapeutics are more certain than that iron cures chlorosis and yet, as is the case with so many other of our really valuable remedies, we are unable to explain how it acts. Inasmuch as the most constant symptom of chlorosis is a deficiency of iron in the blood, it was for a long time assumed that the iron given as a medicine was absorbed into the blood, and that there making good the deficiency, it cured the disease. But a little thought will show serious objections to such a view. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
